Maddie's Place is officially open for business. Tucked between Faded Rose and Buffalo Grill in a restaurant row along Rebsamen Park Road, the convivial - and sometimes rather noisy - operation is owned by chef Brian Deloney and his wife, Angela.
A 1990 graduate of Central High School, Deloney has a pedigree as an executive sous-chef for a decade at Emeril Lagasse restaurants in New Orleans and Las Vegas. He returned to Little Rock in 2007 to help reopen Ashley's at the Capital Hotel.
Now his own boss, Deloney aims to dish up "fresh adaptations of comfort food with a New Orleans influence, served in a funky, informal, family-friendly environment."
The menu, more Creole than Cajun, is identical at lunch and dinner. There are three soups ($3-$6), three salads ($7-$8), four appetizers ($7-$8), seven po' boy sandwiches ($8-$9), seven entrees ($11-$15) and four desserts ($1.50-$5). The wine list, posted on a chalkboard next to the bar, offers nine choices plus a port at $6-$7 by the glass or $24-$28 per bottle.
