Tales from the South is filmed in front of a live audience at Starving Artist Cafe, 411 Main St., North Little Rock. Dinner is served at 5 p.m. and the show will follow. Admission is $7.50. Hello Riverfest!

And so it arrives. Riverfest 2013. Arkansas’ largest and premier music and arts festival. Friday at 6 p.m. till Sunday at 11 p.m. Three afternoons and nights of fun on the Arkansas River in downtown Little Rock from the Main Street Bridge to Heifer International. Here’s what you can expect during this Memorial Day weekend blowout. The weekend will be crowded. (Almost 250,000 people attended last year.) The temperatures might be hot. Or the weather might bring rain. There will be Yarnell’s Ice Cream, brats, jumbo corn dogs, funnel cakes, burgers, pizza, chicken on a stick, lemonade, beer and more to eat and drink. There will be family and children’s zones, the Riverfest Cheese Dip Classic, the Riverfest Baggo National Championship, arts and crafts for sale, the Super Retriever Series Crown Championship, the Riverfest Poker Run and tons

Calling all film fans

Head South — that's where the Little Rock Film Festival is taking cinephiles for the seventh year of the festival this Wednesday through Sunday. Why South? Because while the the film festival is a global affair — with shorts, features and documentaries based in locales from Nepal to Peru to Russia — there’s definitely a nod to the South with the five-day festival of screenings in Little Rock and North Little Rock.
