Derby Love is a Battlefield: The Central Arkansas Roller Derby will take on the Girls Rollin' in the South Saturday at Skate World, 6512 Mabelvale Cut Off, in Little Rock. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and the out starts at 7 p.m. Tickets are $10 for adults and kinds 10 and under are free. Portions of the proceeds will go to American Heart Association. Magical music weekends

Sure, Riverfest 2013 is catching everyone’s attention this weekend, but down in Hot Springs, Magic Springs Water and Theme Park kicks off its 2013 Concert Series with an appearance by Georgia alternative rock band Collective Soul this Saturday. Remember “Shine” and “The World I Know”? That’s them. The music starts at 8 p.m. The show begins a series of 17 concerts nearly every weekend (mostly on Saturdays with some Friday shows) through August.

Calling all film fans

Head South — that's where the Little Rock Film Festival is taking cinephiles for the seventh year of the festival this Wednesday through Sunday. Why South? Because while the the film festival is a global affair — with shorts, features and documentaries based in locales from Nepal to Peru to Russia — there’s definitely a nod to the South with the five-day festival of screenings in Little Rock and North Little Rock.
